About John Whitfield, MD FACS

I am a colorectal surgeon with over 10 years of experience, and I offer medical and surgical care for a wide variety of diseases affecting the colon, rectum, and anal canal. For a full list of diseases treated, please click on the ‘services’ tab. Needing the services of a surgeon can be scary, and I understand how difficult it can be to find a surgeon you can trust. I treat all of my patients how I would want to be treated, and my goal is to help you understand what’s going on with your body, what your options are to treat the problem, and the details of any recommended surgical procedure.

I operate my practice based on four core values:

  • Always endeavor to deliver the highest quality of care

    • I take pride in my outcomes, and my patients do extremely well after surgery.

    • I utilize the DaVinci robot for colon resections, and most of my patients only spend one night in the hospital after a colon resection!

  • Strive to do the right thing for my patient, whether that be surgical or medical management

    • This means I will never try to sell you on a surgery. We will discuss the pros and cons of any procedure, and you will decide how you would like to proceed.

  • Treat everyone’s time as valuable as my own

    • I keep a tight schedule in clinic and work very hard to ensure that you will be seen at your scheduled appointment time.

  • Respect and treat each team member equally
